The biggest mystery of this parable lies in a tiny detail: It’s the barren fig tree in the vineyard. But why is a fig tree in a vineyard? What does a fig tree in a vineyard actually do? Those two questions show us the proper Christian attitude and God’s expectations of more mature Christians, and how He may grant us a period of mercy before judgment.
