George's Poetry: General Living

A Request (written 5/16/00)

Give me a pure heart, O Lord
Help me to be honest and true
To treat others with respect and sincerity
And to love them as you do

But not all the world is ready
To turn away from masks and deceit
This vessel may be willing to serve
But the cups have other intentions for me

So with a bit of sadness I ask you
To give me the wisdom I need
To see those who are ready
And to handle others wisely

And please show me those who are willing
To accept this simple calling
For purity in isolation is just an illusion
But with good company I shall see true love in action
